Deck of the day: Burning Shiranui

If you’ve read anything I’ve written before, you probably know I’m not a fan of more than 40 cards. There’s one Magic writer that always includes his spicy sixty-first card, which is less impactful than a 41st and I cringe at the thought of going over the 60-card minimum there. Not long ago, Murray got 6th place at a regional with Burning Shiranui. Who is Murray? I’m assuming he’s from England because the regional was in Newcastle, England and was only 45ish people but that doesn’t mean the deck isn’t a good deck. Let’s take a look. Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you’re having a happy, stress-free Christmas. If you’re not, I hope it’s because you’re celebrating another holiday. Regardless, today’s card of the day has to be Santa Claws, there’s just not another card that fits as nicely as Santa Claws. Sure, there’s stuff like Space Gift, Gift Card, Token Sundae, Token Feastevil, and the one we missed, Token Thanksgiving. Continue reading “Merry Christmas!”

Zoodiacs are coming to invade the meta

zodiacbeastdrancia-rate-jp-urI can’t find any official information on their names but let’s take a look at Zoodiacs. They’re dominating in the OCG and do quite some crazy combos. I briefly skimmed them when they were first translated, saw that you can Xyz Summon the Xyz with just one material, saw that Rat was broken and promptly ignored them because I don’t play OCG and I don’t want to put money into the pockets of those that make money from people hyping up stuff that will come out in like four months for us. Let’s get into the new meta post RATE. Continue reading “Zoodiacs are coming to invade the meta”

Holiday Christmas Yugioh Gift Guide

spacegift-lodt-en-c-1eIt’s always hard to know what to get somebody for the holidays. If you’re not an enfranchised Yugioh player yourself but have someone in your life that does play, it’s nearly impossible to know what to get them and to know the difference between a starter deck, a booster pack, a booster box and, generally, what to gift your Yugioh player. Hopefully, this Christmas gift guide can help you purchase something within your price range and something that the Yugioh player in your life will actually enjoy. Mermails are okay.

bahamut-sharkMermails are nothing new and Patrick Hoban is also not new. Mermail have been at least a decent deck since their release when Atlantean Dragoons and Deep Sea Diva were unlimited before Neptabyss existed. Hoban recently made Top 4 at the ARGCS with Toadally Mermail, Froggy Mermail, Atlantean Mermail + Toadally Awesome, whatever you want to call it, the deck has Mermail cards, Atlantean cards and a small Frog engine. Let’s take a look at the deck, Hoban’s specific choices and how well Mermail stack up against the current meta. Continue reading “Mermails are okay.”

Deck of the day: Metalfoes Kozmo

KozmoDarkDestroyer-DOCS-EN-ScR-1ESomeone messaged me on Facebook asking if I could look at Kozmo Metalfoes and I’m more than happy to. If you have a request, let me know and I’ll see if I can do it. Kozmos haven’t seen much play since Dark Destroyer was limited but some people were putting Dark Ladies in pendulum decks, so why not put pendulums in your Kozmo deck? You can destroy your ships to float down and you can Pendulum Summon everything but Tincan and Dark Destroyer. Let’s get into the deck. Continue reading “Deck of the day: Metalfoes Kozmo”

Darklords (and the rest of Destiny Soldiers) suck, FYI

darklordmorningstar-deso-en-scr-1eDESO is out and we got some new Destiny HEROs, Abyss Actors and Darklords. Today is not for the former two, nor is it a set review, it’s more of a Darklord guide and different options you can take. I’m not going to definitively say anything on the deck because I strongly believe it belongs in the trash and doesn’t actually do anything relevant against the meta. With that said, the deck is still fun if you like summoning 2500-2900 ATK monsters with mostly irrelevant effects and sometimes Kristya. Deck of the day: Toadally Awesome HEROs

elementalherobubbleman-sdhs-en-c-1eI’ve played all kinds of HERO decks for years and HEROs has stayed true to Fusion Summoning every time we get a new variant. There was Bubble Beat with Blade Armor and Excalibur back in 2012 and 2013 but the deck still used Miracle Fusions for Absolute Zero. And I used Mask Change for Acid and Vapor back before Shadow Mist was a thing. Invasion: Vengeance brought HEROs a new tool; Toadally Awesome. Don’t believe me? Bubbleman is a WATER, which means Bahamut Shark, which means Toadally Awesome! The best part of the deck is that it’s actually good! All aboard the Toadally Awesome HERO train! (we’re not playing trains) Continue reading “Deck of the day: Toadally Awesome HEROs”
