Madolche are sweet. Literally. They’re all desserts. They’re not deserts, as I’ve seen many people say online. What kind of sweet treats have people come up with? There was Trick-or-Treat, which was pretty spooky and used the Ghostricks as a stalling engine until Tiaramisu could do her thing. Spell Striker OTK used Spell Striker to extend plays, hence the name. Pop Rocks abused Brilliant Fusion to make OTKs, and at the UK Nationals we saw Monster Munch. Monster Munch uses the Kaiju monsters to solve the problems that Madolche has. Madolche is easily stopped. I know it’s not actually Monster Munch, but that ice cream is what I think of because I’m American and not British. Monster Munch is a British snack. 

If left to their own devices, Madolche shuffle away all of your cards and attack for big damage. However, interrupting basically any part makes the Madolche player cry. The most common interruptions now are all monsters. Dark Lady, Dark Destroyer, Pleiades, Magnaliger, Ehther, Beatrice, Cyber Dragon Infinity, Giant Hand, Traptrix Rafflesia, and so on. Pretty much every deck will throw a few monsters your way on your turn to mess up your plan. The Kaiju solve this problem. If your opponent has a problem monster, just give them a Kaiju. I’m playing four Kaiju and three Slumber, so out of 7 cards, it’s pretty likely to see some of the Kaiju cards.

My Madolche Engine is pretty standard for post PRIO. The only numbers I want to change would be Messengelato and Mewfeuille. You need Messengelato in your deck for combos, but you do not want to draw it, ever. It’s not completely useless in your hand, but it’s less good. I wouldn’t run 3 because I don’t want to see it. Mewfeuille is in a similar scenario; I want to see it, but never more than one copy at a time, plus it’s searchable. Which is why I run 2 in the deck. Otherwise, it’s a pretty boring lineup. I also don’t run the Madolches in here because they’re simply unneeded. Sure, Baaple is neat, but it doesn’t do much for you. Palooza isn’t always great, but it’s like a Pendulum Summon, kind of, and gets you out of Rivalry troubles when you have two Anjelly in hand. Palooza isn’t needed, though.

The other combo engine I’ve included is the Speedroid package of 3 Terrortop and 2 Taketomborg. You can get away with two Taketomborg because Leviair is a WIND, and so is Dragoness the Wicked Knight. The second Taketomborg isn’t needed. I’d have no qualms with anyone cutting the second.

The only other combo piece is Instant Fusion. The rest is defense. We obviously have Norden for recovery and extending. A Level 3 is really nice to help us get into Leviair, Grampulse and Invoker when we need to. Dragoness the Wicked Knight has the most ATK of the Level 3 fusions and is a WIND for Taketomborg. Also a Warrior-Type. Consider Karbonala Warrior. It’s a Level 4 EARTH Warrior-Type. It just helps get into some Extra Deck monsters that aren’t the easiest.

Emergency Teleport is another combo piece you can run. The best options are Ghost Ogre, Re-Cover and Risebell, the Star Adjuster. Just more Xyz and Naturia Beast access. Brilliant Fusion is good too, but it only does more combos and doesn’t actually deal with a Dark Lady. My friend insists that Risebell the Summoner and Archfiend Eccentrick is good, but I haven’t tried it and I’ve yet to see a list to try.




InterruptedKaijuSlumber-BOSH-EN-SR-1EI mentioned briefly that I run a typical Kaiju ratio of 2:1:1:3 for different Kaijus to Slumber. No one would be surprised to see Gameciel or Kumongous, as they’re the weakest two. Thunder King may surprise some, though. Thunder King fits in nicely because Tiaramisu can just shuffle whatever Kaiju you give to your opponent back into your deck, and if you Slumber out Thunder King, you have a 3300 ATK dude. Jizukiru is an alternative, but that can be sucked up with Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. Also, if for whatever reason it gets changed to Defense Position, you can’t deal with 2600 DEF without an effect. You can deal with 2100 DEF. Not that your opponent would turn either of them to Defense Position, anyways. Do not forget to put the Kaiju you gave your opponent back into your deck if you don’t have better cards to shuffle away with Tiaramisu.

Above is my defensive lineup. I’d like to fit in a third Maxx “C” and Veiler, but something else would have to go. D.D. Crow is neat and stops shenanigans like The Prime Monarch and can be banished with Hootcake. No Upstart because this list is for locals, I wouldn’t ever take this to an event where I want to do well. And because this list is for locals, I’m not trying to make it A++ material. It’s also why I don’t have three Strikes in here. There would be, but I’ve opted for Chaos Trap Holes instead, effectively running Solemn Warning, and two slightly worse Solemn Warning. Strike is typically better, but at the time of writing this, Solemn Strike is near $50.

The Extra Deck is actually really tight. Let’s look at all the good things.

Madolche has access to so many tools, but not all of them can be played. Even if you don’t have the Lightning, consider Utopia/Trapeze Magician/Tiaramisu for Rank 4s you can make under Rivalry that beat over a Majesty’s Fiend/Dark Lady. Below is a picture of the deck for those that like pictures. Just remember that Tiaramisu is the reason to play Madolche, and that the Kaiju are there to solve problems. The Extra Deck is only 12, but it’s the 12 I’d run, and decide on the last three slots eventually.

Madolche are still fun, even four years after their release. They’ve had their spotlight and aren’t the best, but Tiaramisu is still really good. Plus the deck isn’t even expensive. So get those Tiaramisus, come back tomorrow, click an ad and share this with your friends.
