In Clash of Rebellions (CORE) we (the TCG) got two new WP archetypes, Kaiju and Kozmo. Then in Dimension of Chaos (DOCS) and Breakers of Shadow (BOSH) we got two more installments. Next, in Shining Victories(SHVI) we get another installment of Kaiju and Kozmo. So far each time we’ve gotten 4 Kozmo Monsters, a Kozmo Spell/Trap, 2 Kaiju Monsters and a Kaiju Spell/Trap. Today I’m going to talk briefly about all of the new Kozmo cards.
Farmgirl (Level 3 LIGHT)

Okay, now I’ll look at the actual cards. Keep in mind the English names aren’t confirmed because we’ve only seen the Spanish cards.
Kozmo Dark Planet
Level 10 DARK Machine-Type [Special Summon] Effect Monster
ATK 4000 / DEF 4000
“Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing “Kozmo” monsters from your hand whose Levels equal 10 or more and cannot be Special Summoned by other means. Cannot be targeted by your opponent’s card effects. During either player’s turn, when a Spell Card is activated: you can banish 1 “Kozmo” monster in your Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. If this card is destroyed by battle or by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard: you can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 Level 9 or lower “Kozmo” monster from your Deck to your hand.”
I think Dark Planet is supposed to be the Death Star and the Wicked Witch’s castle, but doesn’t look quite like the Death Star. In the expanded Star Wars universe there was another laser weapon similar to the Death Star that looks like a lightsaber. This could be kind of like that. But DOG Fighter doesn’t look like a TIE Fighter, and based on the name it’s supposed to be one. So I’ll give it a pass. But Dark Planet does remind me of the Lucrehulk Class ship. I had to google its name because no one ever talks about the donut ship. Anyways, you can only Special Summon Dark Planet with its own summoning procedure. No pilots summoning it from hand and since it’s Level 10, the other ships couldn’t search/summon it even if it wasn’t a nomi. It is a built-in summon, though. For those that haven’t read this article, that means it doesn’t start a chain and can only be negated by cards that negate actual summons.
Let me look at it from the perspective of “Where will this fit in my existing Kozmo deck that I plan on taking to the next YCS/WCQ?” Only way to summon it is itself, 4K/4K isn’t bad, but you need to banish Levels 10+ from your hand. It negates spells how Dark Eclipser negates traps, but you need a Graveyard for that to happen. Also Erebus doesn’t target, nor does Kozmojo. Both of which are a problem when you’re investing usually two cards into summoning this thing, plus itself. And it only searches for a Level 9- if it goes to the Graveyard. Cool, flavorful, not very good. I hope I’m wrong because it’s pretty cool.
ATK 2400 / DEF 1200
“If one or more of your “Kozmo” cards would be destroyed by battle or an opponents card effect, you can destroy a different “Kozmo” card you control instead. When this card is destroyed by batle or card effect and sent to the graveyard: you can banish this card; Special Summon 1 Level 5 or lower “Kozmo” monster from your deck.”
Much better than DOG Fighter. Run one? If any Kozmo card you control would be destroyed, you can destroy a different one instead. This effect is always super annoying. Dan, from The Org, pointed out that you can save Tincan by popping your field spell, which is a scenario that will probably actually come up instead of having 3 Soartrooper and making Invoker or whatever that combo with Brain Research Lab was. I approve of Kozmo Walker. Not an AT-AT, but instead those desert droids. Still neat. Not great, but better than DOG Fighter in my opinion.
Kozmo Dark Lady
Level 5 DARK Psychic-Type Effect Monster
ATK 2200 / DEF 1800
“During either player’s turn: you can banish this card: Special Summon 1 Level 6 or higher “Kozmo” monster from your hand. You can only use this effect of “Kozmo Dark Lady” once per turn. Once per turn, during either player’s turn when another monster’s effect is activated: you can pay 1000 LP: Negate that activation, and if you do, destroy that monster.”
So she’s just another pilot. And be she, I mean Darth Vader. I told you Ani was a girl’s name. Sorry not sorry for spoilers. She can banish herself to Special Summon another Kozmo with a higher level from your hand, can only use that effect once per turn. But wait, she’s Level 5 and has 2200 ATK. And she’s still Psychic-Type for Soartrooper and Lightsword? Pretty cool. I’m not sure how many you’re going to play because you can’t Normal Summon her. You have to float into Dark Lady or summon her using another pilot. The main draw is the monster effect negation. It’s only once per turn, but not one Dark Lady negation per turn. She’s really good and I think 3 is probably too many. I saw people complaining that Sliprider can’t summon her, but Sliprider can’t summon any of the ships and I don’t hear any complaining that Sliprider can’t float into Dark Destroyer. Dark Lady is probably a 2-of. You can also just Allure her away. Allure to three please?
Kozmo Fearful Lion
Level 2 LIGHT Psychic-Type Effect Monster
ATK 1200 / DEF 500
“During either player’s turn: you can banish this card: Special Summon 1 Level 3 or higher “Kozmo” monster from your hand. You can only use this effect of “Kozmo Fearful Lion” once per turn. Once per turn: You can pay 500 LP, then target 3 of your banished “Kozmo” monsters; return them to the Graveyard, and if you do, inflict 500 damage to your opponent.”
Cowardly Lion has 1200 ATK, so that’s at least decent. Normal pilot effect. And the reason to play this card, pay 500 LP, target 3 of your banished “Kozmo” monsters; return them to the Graveyard, burn for 500. I’m not really sure what this card is trying to do. Both players take 500 and put Burial from a D.D. 3 Kozmo monsters? I suppose it’s neat and probably broken in some impractical combo. But this isn’t Barbar. Most of the time Lion won’t be useful. In Burning Abyss, Barbar was always a Malebranche that could Special Summon itself and attack for 1700. Lion eats your Normal Summon (or E-Tele) and requires exactly 3 banished Kozmo. I think every archetype is required to have a stinker. This is the Kozmo stinker. Like with Dark Planet, I hope I’m wrong and this card is secretly good.
Continuous Trap Card
“Monsters destroyed in battle by “Kozmo” monsters you control are shuffled into the Deck instead of being sent to the Graveyard. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; this turn, the first time you would take battle damage from a battle involving a “Kozmo” monster you control, you gain that much LP instead.”
This pretty much destroys Burning Abyss. Two in the side deck maybe? The graveyard effect is just a bonus. I think this is a card that needs to see play before one can truly judge it.
