June 2017 Forbidden & Limited List

We’re faced with another Forbidden & Limited List update. I’m hesitant to call anything an emergency because Konami knows what’s going on with the meta, especially in the TCG because OCG is ahead of us. Regardless, we’ve got a new list going into effect June 12. JUNE! We never get lists ahead of time anymore, it’s strange. That’s over three weeks away. March 31st 2017 Forbidden & Limited List Update (TCG ban list)

It’s been over six months since we had our last updated F&L list. They banned Monkeyboard back then. Do you remember when Performapals were a problem for six months? Well, there are some interesting moves this time. Let’s go. Continue reading “March 31st 2017 Forbidden & Limited List Update (TCG ban list)”

Deck of the day: Ryan Pasnik’s Top 8 Paleos

I’m sure that nobody is excited about Predaplants, Invoked or Frightfurs because I haven’t heard anything except people complaining about how broken Rat is. Ryan Pasnik, a personal friend of mine, went 8-1 against Zoodiac at the YCS this past weekend with Paleos and the only loss to Zoodiac was in Top 8 in time. Let’s take a look at one effective way to beat Zoo. Continue reading “Deck of the day: Ryan Pasnik’s Top 8 Paleos”

Set Review: Raging Tempest Part 1

Raging Tempest is out. Zoodiacs are out. The world is over. The rat is named Ratpier. Yugioh has gone to the dogs. Three secrets are Zoodiac cards that you need at least two copies of. Welcome to the RATE set review. It’s been out since Friday and we’ve had a weekend to see the good decks but let’s take a look at the set even though you probably know all the good cards, anyways. In this part I’m going to go over the notable super, ultra and secret rares. The next part will be the notable commons and rares. Let’s-a-go. Continue reading “Set Review: Raging Tempest Part 1”

Deck of the day: Burning Shiranui

If you’ve read anything I’ve written before, you probably know I’m not a fan of more than 40 cards. There’s one Magic writer that always includes his spicy sixty-first card, which is less impactful than a 41st and I cringe at the thought of going over the 60-card minimum there. Not long ago, Murray got 6th place at a regional with Burning Shiranui. Who is Murray? I’m assuming he’s from England because the regional was in Newcastle, England and was only 45ish people but that doesn’t mean the deck isn’t a good deck. Let’s take a look. Zoodiacs are coming to invade the meta

zodiacbeastdrancia-rate-jp-urI can’t find any official information on their names but let’s take a look at Zoodiacs. They’re dominating in the OCG and do quite some crazy combos. I briefly skimmed them when they were first translated, saw that you can Xyz Summon the Xyz with just one material, saw that Rat was broken and promptly ignored them because I don’t play OCG and I don’t want to put money into the pockets of those that make money from people hyping up stuff that will come out in like four months for us. Let’s get into the new meta post RATE. Continue reading “Zoodiacs are coming to invade the meta”

Mermails are okay.

bahamut-sharkMermails are nothing new and Patrick Hoban is also not new. Mermail have been at least a decent deck since their release when Atlantean Dragoons and Deep Sea Diva were unlimited before Neptabyss existed. Hoban recently made Top 4 at the ARGCS with Toadally Mermail, Froggy Mermail, Atlantean Mermail + Toadally Awesome, whatever you want to call it, the deck has Mermail cards, Atlantean cards and a small Frog engine. Let’s take a look at the deck, Hoban’s specific choices and how well Mermail stack up against the current meta. Continue reading “Mermails are okay.”
