Set Review: The Dark Illusion Part I

TDIL-BoosterENThe Dark Illusion is legal for play August 5th, so let’s take a look at the new cards. They’re not up on the database, but the wikia has the full set as per usual. Also, as per usual, the set is coming out pretty quietly because everyone has been looking at the cards for months. The wikia normally has really nice scans, but right now they’re trash because people haven’t scanned their cards with a nice scanner yet. So, pictures will come when that happens. I used to do set reviews in groups of about 20 cards, but I find when I’m reading set reviews I usually skim most of it, so I’m upping core sets to 40-40-20 as the first 80 are the same as OCG’s set, then cards 081-099 and 000 are WP (World Premier) cards, either imports from OCG or exclusive to the TCG for now. Let’s start with card 001. Continue reading “Set Review: The Dark Illusion Part I”

Set review: Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack Part III

MVP1-BoosterENWelcome back to Part III of the Dark Side of Dimensions movie pack review. Today I’ll be looking at all of the Cubic cards. I guess they’re used by the antagonist in the movie? The cards aren’t competitive, so they won’t get a competitive rating. They’re pretty much straight garbage. And the Armageddon Knight-esque one isn’t even in the movie pack and that’s probably the best one. We’ll probably get it sometime, but for now, with two different games, the TCG has no announcements of it. It could come out anytime, though. Konami likes to wait until the cards are almost released to tell us about them. Continue reading “Set review: Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack Part III”

Set review: Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack Part II

Welcome back to the Dark Side of Dimensions movie pack set review! On Monday, we looked at the Kaiba cards, or at least the cards I would guess Kaiba would play and a few miscellaneous other cards. Today, it’s Yugi’s turn. I don’t have much more to introduce, so let’s get into the first card. Continue reading “Set review: Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack Part II”

Set review: Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack Part I

MVP1-BoosterENThe Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack is out, MVP1. With it comes 53 new cards, so let’s take a look at them. This is going to be a three-part set review with the Kaiba cards in part 1, Yugi for part 2 and the other dude for part 3. I haven’t seen the movie so some cards are probably in the wrong spots, but they’re divided to be roughly equal. Every card in the set is Ultra Rare. There are five cards per pack. Let’s get into it. Set Review: Rise of the True Dragons Structure Deck

SR02-lrgMany Yugioh players ask the question “Is the Rise of the True Dragons Structure Deck worth purchasing?” It comes out this week. Thursday for some. Friday for others. As a strict value purchase, the included 42 cards are worth $10, or other MSRP. Opened as a lot, less. Individually, maybe a little more. But while it’s new, the cards together are going to be worth about $10 unless it really takes off competitively. Continue reading “Set Review: Rise of the True Dragons Structure Deck”

Set review: Starter Deck Yuya

YS16-DeckENMany Yugioh players ask the question, “Is Starter Deck Yuya worth it?” The product description page proudly talks about the new Performapal Sleight Hand Magician and touts reprints like Lightning Vortex, Book of Moon and Pendulum Reborn, but doesn’t mention the reprints that are actually good. the full set list can be found here. So, let’s get into it. Continue reading “Set review: Starter Deck Yuya”

We’re finishing up the core set’s Effect Monsters and going over all of the Ritual, Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Monsters and starting the Spell Cards. Take a look at my rating scale if you haven’t yet. A 3.0 doesn’t mean it’s only meh. I’d give Ehther and Erebus a 3.0 and they’re the most important cards for Monarchs. So let’s get into the reviews.
