Luster Pendulum and Master Pendulum are the LIGHT commanders of the FIRE, WIND and WATER armies of the Igknight, Majespecter and Dinomist. That’s four of the six attributes, where are the DARK and EARTH guys at? The Dracoverlords have DARK covered and our Draconnected EARTH attribute archetype in Shining Victories (SHVI) They’re about on equal power level as Dinomist and unfortunately probably won’t see competitive play. If you don’t know what they do yet, read on and I’ll explain them.
Let’s just get the lore out of the way. The Amorphages are all different animals turning into dragons from a virus or something and are named after the seven deadly sins, plus Vanity/Vainglory, which is normally excluded. As to finish the set, there is also a Dracoverlord Ritual Monster and a Dracoslayer Effect Monster coming to match the Synchro, Xyz and Fusion. So Amorphages have eight Pendulum Effect Monsters, a continuous spell and trap and a field spell that doesn’t share the archetype name. Sucks that Amorphous Persona, Dynamic Powerload, Majesty’s Pegasus and Ignition Phoenix aren’t part of the archetypes.
All of the Amorphage pendulums have the same monster effect, except for Goliath and Sloth. Goliath and Sloth restrict the Extra Deck Special Summons no matter how they were summoned.
“While this Pendulum Summoned or flipped face-up card is on the field, neither player can Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck, except “Amorphage” monsters.”
While in the Pendulum Zone, all the Amorphages have a maintenance cost of tributing a monster during your Standby Phase or destroy it. They also stop something from happening if you control an Amorphage monster. So since they’re all EARTH Dragons, let me just go through the unique parts of each one. (And only mention the unique continuous pendulum effect)
Level 8 / Scale 5
2750 ATK / 0 DEF
Any card that is sent to the Graveyard is banished instead, except “Amorphage” cards.
Level 6 / Scale 3

Level 4 / Scale 3

Level 4 / Scale 3

Amorphactor Pain, the Imagination Dracoverlord
2950 ATK / 2500 DEF
“You can Ritual Summon this card with “Amorphous Persona”. If this card is Ritual Summoned: Your opponent skips their next Main Phase 1. Negatethe effects of face-up Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Monsters while they are on the field. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add 1 “Dracoverlord” monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Amorphactor Pain, the Imagination Dracoverlord”.”
“All “Amorphage” monsters on the field gain 300 ATK and DEF. Up to twice per turn, if an “Amorphage” monster(s) you control is Tributed, draw 1 card. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; Tribute Pendulum Monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels exactly equal 8, thenRitual Summon 1 “Amorphactor Pain, the Imagination Dracoverlord” from your hand.”
All “Amorphage” monsters on the field gain 100 ATK and DEF for each “Amorphage” card on the field. If a monster(s) in your hand or you control is Tributed, or destroyed by battle or card effect: You can add 1 “Amorphage” card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Amorphage Infection” once per turn.
“All monsters on the field, except “Amorphage” monsters, lose 100 ATKand DEF for each “Amorphage” card on the field. If a card(s) in yourPendulum Zone(s) is destroyed (except during the Damage Step): You can place 1 “Amorphage” Pendulum Monster from your Deck in your Pendulum Zone. You can only use this effect of “Amorphage Lysis” once per turn.”
The Amorphage scales are 3 and 5, which means we can only Pendulum Summon Level 4 monsters. Gluttony, Lust, Sloth and Goliath are 2, 2, 6 and 8, so we can’t Pendulum Summon them without scale modifiers or higher/lower scales. Since the good floodgate effects are only active in the Pendulum Zones, we really can’t play different scales, so that leaves modifiers. And right now, all of the modifiers are a -1. So we’re stuck not Pendulum Summoning those four. The other four are Level 4, though. I’ll show you my early build, then you can either take it as a jumping off point, or take small ideas from it. I’ll explain choices as I go. All of the Pendulum Summon-able guys are at three because we need to Pendulum Summon back our tributed monsters.
3 Amorphage Gluttony
Gluttony is no monster effects. Gluttony is a high scale. I believe Gluttony is the best scale because it doesn’t let monster effects activate. It’s the best high scale most of the time. No Kozmo effects. No Burning Abyss effects. No Monarch effects. It’s great when your opponent can’t play. Sucks that you can’t Pendulum Summon Gluttony.
3 Amorphage Lechery
Lechery is no spell effects. Lechery is a high scale. This guy doesn’t have 0 ATK, so it’s not out of the question to Normal Summon it to turn on scale effects. Lechery only negates spell effects. Your opponent (and you) can still activate other pendulum spells and Pendulum Summon. Sucks that you can’t Pendulum Summon Lechery.
3 Amorphage Greed
Greed is no trap effects. Greed is a low scale. Greed is actually super underrated. 1950 DEF is legitimate, it’s Level 4 so you will be Pendulum Summoning it and you play Greed, normal any Amorphage, then Pendulum Summon the rest back. Sometimes you have to Normal Summon a 0 ATK guy to turn on scale effects, but at least you can Pendulum Summon Greed and Envy, unlike Gluttony.
3 Amorphage Pride
Pride is no effect damage. Pride is a low scale. At 1750 ATK, Pride is the strongest Amorphage we can Normal/Pendulum Summon, which makes it an incredibly valuable member of the team. And since all the Amorphages have the Domain of the Monarchs effect and Pride has the most ATK, Pride is the best lockdown. I think it’s kind of funny that Pride is an eagle, the symbol of America and freedom, and it has been turned into an oppressing, uniform dragon. Looks like communism won this time. Pride does basically auto-win against Chain Burn/other burn though.
3 Amorphage Wrath
Wrath is no tributing. Wrath is a low scale. With 1650 ATK, Wrath isn’t far behind Pride and most of the time, the 100 point difference won’t matter. At least the no tributing effect is relevant sometimes. Wrath has the least amount of downside. Low scale, which is less important because Goliath, Gluttony and Lechery are all high scales. Level 4, so you can Normal/Pendulum Summon it. The ATK is more than 0, so you can actually deal damage and win. No tributing effect isn’t always irrelevant.
3 Amorphage Envy
Envy is no effects Chain Link 2+. Envy is a high scale. Usually I find Envy to be the best tribute fodder, but really it’s the same as Greed as a monster, but +100 DEF. Envy isn’t always useful in the Pendulum Zone, but it’s not as useless as Pride almost always is. I don’t want to keep shitting on Pride, but seriously, nothing can be responded to is better than no burn.
2 Amorphage Goliath
Goliath is Macro Cosmos. Goliath is a high scale. Goliath is really good. Just below Gluttony, Lechery and Greed. Right now, Lechery is the worst of the monster/spell/trap, and Goliath might be bad if something that likes banishing everything becomes good, but that’s unlikely. Goliath banishes all pendulums, and every floater that needs to hit the Graveyard. Macro Cosmos alone isn’t enough to beat decks like Burning Abyss, but it does help. Goliath is a two tribute monster, which normally sucks. And still sucks in Amorphages because you can’t Pendulum Summon it back from your Extra Deck. The biggest plus side is that Goliath shuts off the Extra Deck as long as it’s face-up. Doesn’t matter how it was summoned. If you have your stuff going, and two monsters you’re tributing and summoning every turn, you can go ahead and Tribute Summon for Goliath. 2750 ATK is pretty big, and even bigger if you have Infection/Lysis. You can play three if you need more high scales, but the high scales are in /high/ contention.
1 Amorphage Sloth
Sloth is no searching. Sloth is a low scale. Sloth doesn’t stop all searching, except Amorphage. Sloth stops all searching, including Infection. Sloth is like Dark Eclipser. It /can/ win games on its own, but rarely will, and isn’t worth playing more of. Also it’s Level 6, so you can’t Normal or Pendulum Summon it. You could cut this if you want to play more other low scales. I’m thinking of cutting it already. You could play more if you need more low scales, but Master Pendulum doesn’t have a maintenance cost.
3 Master Pendulum, the Dracoslayer
This is another low scale. You can cut sloth completely and run it only in the side deck. Master is 1950 and pops either itself or other scales to trigger Lysis. Master is pretty bad most of the time, but you can Normal Summon it or Pendulum Summon it from the hand, whereas you cannot with Sloth. I tried Koa’ki Meiru Drago in this slot because then you basically auto-win against everything if you have Goliath+Greed. But the maintenance cost of Amorphages AND Drago is too much on the first few turns. Late game it’s fine, but you won’t get to the late game.
3 Scapegoat/Ties of Brethern
Goats is really bad. I hate this card. It’s good turn 1 when you have a scale(s) and an Amorphage to summon to maintain your scales. It’s dead with Lechery, but Strike is dead with Greed. And most of the time you’d prefer Goliath or Gluttony in the Pendulum Zone. You want to see Scapegoat early, every game, but not late game. To see it early, we need to run multiples. It sucks but Amorphage suck. Ties of Brethern sucks less, but costs 2000 LP, which is kind of a lot for this deck. It summons two guys from the deck, but at the cost of your Battle Phase. It’s good, but I don’t know how good just yet.
3 Amorphage Infection
When your monster is tributed or destroyed, search an Amorphage. And all Amorphage gain 100 ATK/DEF per Amorphage card. This makes your guys huge and really gets your rolling. I had 0 faith in Amorphage before I saw this card. You just need to play three.
2 Amorphous Persona
This card is meh. It is kind of like a continuous Super Rejuvination. It makes good hands better and bad hands worse. It’s really bad in multiples and isn’t an Amorphage card, but both of its effects are continuous, so it doesn’t matter. You can play 0-3 of this card. I want to see it, but never in multiples. I wish this also discarded cards to add Amorphages from your Extra Deck to hand. That would complete the deck. Oh well.
2 Pot of Riches/Upstart Goblin/Igknight Reload/other draw/search card
I run Riches because the deck has NO RECOVERY due to the high maintenance costs and needing two scales and the lack of a one card scale set up. Riches helps to alleviate the pressure on yourself of going minus every single turn until you have Infection + Persona + 2 Level 4s.
3 Amorphage Lysis
The best use for this card is to let your Level 4 in the Pendulum Zone that you don’t care about die, then placing another there, letting it die and placing your actual scale there. It just deck thins a little bit and counts as another Amorphage card for Infection. You can also play multiple Infection/Lysis because even though you only get one effect per turn, the attack boost/shrink is continuous and stacks.
3 Solemn Strike
You can replace this with other cards if you don’t have the money for them. Strike is not live with Greed, but neither are their Strikes. And you can always not pay the cost for Greed. No Warning in my build because I found myself unable to pay the cost with 3 Strike and 3 Ties of Bretheren.
The Extra Deck would just be 1 Dinoster if I could only have one card. But since we’re allowed a whole 15, just side Ghost Reaper and put in stuff like Dante, F0, Break Sword, Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon and Utopia/Lightning. If you don’t have any of those, put in the Rank 4s you do own and however many Dinoster you own. Overall, though, the deck sucks. I’m sorry. You might be able to play it at locals, but expect to go like 2-3 or 3-2 every week. It’s not much better than Dinomist and much more fragile. I really like the Dracos, Igknight, Majespecter, Dinomist and Amorphages. I wish they were playable. I have found that Amorphage stomp anything rogue. But if Amorphage try to stop your opponent from playing while you slowly gain advantage. Unless you open really good, you’re going to get womp’d against any meta deck.
Please consider the following for your Amorphage deck:
Pot of Riches
Meta extra deck monsters + Ghost Reaper, you don’t need your extra, but if you’re not running Reaper, run things you’ll actually be able to summon.
Igknight Reload, you almost always want your Pendulums, and trading them in for maybe not pendulums isn’t very good.
Koa’ki Meiru Drago
Samurai Cavalry of Reptier
Ties of the Bretheren – I’d run 3 if it was TCG legal
Twin Twister – you can run this if you want. Also unless you have Lechery, it hurts really bad
Mystical Space Typhoon
Wavering Eyes (should it ever come back)
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon + support
Dragon Rulers (should they ever come back)
